Mental Health for Young Players Pathway Now Available
We’re excited to launch a comprehensive eLearning pathway to help anyone who works with young people in sport effectively understand and manage mental wellbeing in their players.
Created in partnership with mental health charity Team Mental Health, sports nutritionist Dr Richard Allison, and best-selling neuroscientist Dr Dean Burnett, you can be confident that the content is relevant, engaging, and based on the latest research and practice.
Our new Pathway features 4 brand new courses with the aim of equipping you with the knowledge and skills to deal with anxiety, build resilience, tackle eating disorders, and understand mental health and its effect on young players.
The ‘Understanding Mental Health in Young Players’ course will enable you to understand more about how negative mental health affects young people, in a different way to adults. It’ll build empathy amongst your workforce towards your young members and simplify neuroscience theories, helping you to help your young players deal with issues.
The ‘Building Resilience in Young Players’ course, authored by two former clinical psychologists, will look at the practical steps coaches can take to build resilience in their younger players, in a safe and empathetic way.
The ‘Dealing with Anxiety in Young Players’ course will teach you how to detect heightened levels of Anxiety in your young players along with the best ways of helping them deal with this in a positive way, looking at the negative effects of social media and dealing with the aftermath of the pandemic.
The ‘Tackling Eating Disorders in Sport’ course will enable you to spot the symptoms of a range eating disorders, understand the barriers to getting help and gain practical information about what you can do to help your workforce.
The courses are all accredited by CIMSPA and the pathway will give learners a total of 8 CPD points on completion, along with a digital certificate and a range of downloadable resources. You will finish with an action plan for your Sport to ensure you’re confident in looking after the wellbeing of your young players and athletes.
There will be a short assessment at the end of the courses for learners to test their knowledge, as well as the option to attend a webinar-based session following course completion to ask questions and refresh the knowledge they have acquired from the course.
