eCoach have partnered with Wales Netball to launch a new eLearning platform, in association with Wales Netball. It is designed for players, parents, volunteers and coaches to be able to confidently understand the rules of the game, as well as the essential skills.
The platform consists of two Essential Netball eLearning courses. Alongside this, members will have access to the catalogue of Equality and Mental Health courses hosted by Accelerate Sport.
Head of operations at Wales Netball, Laura Milford said: “We’re excited to launch our new e-learning platform for both our members and those who are introducing themselves to the sport. The platform will forever evolve, allowing us to expand the resource and learning library, delivering netball related content at all levels covering coaching and umpiring, offering courses that support key areas such as equality, anti-racism, safeguarding, mental health and much more. We’re looking forward to working with Accelerate Sport and supporting our members and future members on both their netball and professional learning journey.”
Director of eCoach Simon Richards said: “At eCoach we’re incredibly excited to be launching this powerful training platform with Wales Netball. Not only will the platform revolutionise Wales Netball’s training offer, for their member, but the online courses we’ve created will help upskill the next generation of coaches and umpires.’
“This is just the start” said Accelerate Sport Director Simon Richards. “We’re excited to be able to also offer our Accelerate Sport catalogue of courses on the platform in the near future, providing Wales Netball and their membership with a huge range of online training modules on a range of key topics”
The Essential Rules eLearning course consists of six modules, split up into two sections.
Module 1 will serve as an introduction to the basics, the types of sanctions, player rules, game rules, how to score a goal, and other additional information.
Module 2 teaches learners about starting a game of netball, the positions of the players, the different types of sanctions and where they’re taken; and finally, touching on free passes, throw-ins and toss-ups.
The third and final module of Section 1 touches on playing the ball, passing and receiving, footwork, offsides and stoppages.
Moving into the second Section, Module 4 focuses on marking players in and out of possession as well as defending, obstruction and types of contact.
Module 5 covers topics such as scoring a goal, as well as the rules which can allow or disallow a goal; and the limitations on defenders who are protecting their goal.
Finally, the sixth module will conclude the Essential Rules course where learners can reflect on the modules, take home some top tips, and receive links to further learning.
The second course, Essential Skills, takes a more coach-focused approach on each of the key netball skills, and provide learners with the key coaching points for each skill to use in their sessions.
The course is made up of one module, consisting of video content. The module covers a broad range of skills, from more general skills to movement skills, passing skills, shooting and rebounds and defending.
At the end of both eLearning courses, learners will receive an Essential Skills and Essential Rules course certificate, respectively.
Learners will also have access to the ‘First Aid Awareness’ course, designed to increase First Aid provision within clubs and schools.
Additionally, the Accelerate Sport ‘Promoting Period Dignity in Sport’ course will also be available on the Wales Netball platform from day 1, exploring the important issue of promoting period dignity within sport.
