Engaging Teenage Girls in Sport eLearning course to launch in January in partnership with Women in Sport
We’re pleased to announce we have partnered with Women in Sport on the creation of an Engaging teenage girls in sport eLearning course designed for National Governing Bodies, associations, and sports clubs, from grassroots level up.
During this course learners will explore the current state of play for teenage girls in sport and exercise; from their participation and attitudes towards it, to the complex barriers that get in the way. Learners will gain a deeper understanding of teenage girls’ lives and relationship with sport and uncover why sport needs to change and how they can make it more inclusive so that it meets the needs of different girls, not just the sporty few. Importantly, learners will hear from teenage girls themselves, as well as those who work with them and are making a difference to their lives through sport.
This course will offer ideas and inspiration to help learners turn this understanding into practical solutions and make sport a more relevant and meaningful prospect for girls. Learners will complete the course with the following outcomes:
- Recognise the importance of making sport more inclusive for teenage girls, and the value to you/your club.
- Understand the spectrum of engagement that exists for girls and how it can support your work with them.
- Identify the complex barriers that stop girls from getting involved in sport and dropping out.
- Utilise the 8 Principles for Success to innovate solutions and break down barriers to make meaningful change for teenage girls in sport.
There will be a short assessment at the end of the course to test learners knowledge and they will receive a digital certificate and CIMSPA accreditation for their continued professional development.
Women in Sport’s Partnerships and Consultancy Manager, Lisa West, says, “We are excited to partner with eCoach on the Engaging Teenage Girls in Sport eLearning course. Understanding how to engage more teenage girls in activity, as well as reducing the drop out of those currently engaged, has to start with understanding what drives and motivates them. This course enables us to share our research with coaches and activity deliverers, to equip them to offer a highly engaging experience for teenage girls.”
Simon Richards, eCoach Director, says, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Women in Sport. The work they do in making sport inclusive and accepting for girls is fantastic. We’re really looking forward to getting the Engaging Teenage Girls in Sport online course out to as many sporting organisations across the UK as possible.”
